Pink Hope

Know Your Risk!

Hi, my name is Tahnee and I am a local ambassador for an amazing charity called Pink Hope.

Pink Hope is a breast and ovarian preventative health hub, working to ensure every individual can assess, manage and reduce their risk of breast and ovarian cancer, while providing personalised support to at-risk women.

We are holding a She Shares event on the 14th of April at Eden Rising Sun for women in the High Risk category.

I found out I had the BRCA1 Gene in mid 2018. It has come down through my Fathers side of the family.

One of my family members started to see a trend among our older relatives and when she found out she had Breast Cancer a few years ago she opted for genetic testing.

The gene fault is very hit and miss with our family but basically if you have one parent that has the gene, you are a 50/50 chance of inheriting the gene also.

For me that means my 3 children are now a risk as well.

My husband has been an amazing supporter and I am very grateful to have him on this journey as so far my Dad and I are the only one in our direct family that are aware we carry the gene.  My Paternal Grandmother passed away from ovarian cancer quite a few years ago.

For me it means now when I reach my mid 30’s or complete my family I am going in for risk reducing surgery so I know I am around for as long as I can be and help support my family when the time is right for them to find out their risk.

I hope to see some new members at our She Shares Event in April and help to get the word out so more people can Know Their Risk!

Tickets are available through the link below and the cost is $10 and that includes your Tea, Coffee and Mini High Tea.
