A High Tea is a long held tradition amongst social groups and are a popular event for Bridal Showers, fundraising events and birthdays. In Townsville many venues are offering this choice on their menus. A High Tea is a great opportunity to get together with other people and enjoy a chit-chat over cups of tea and delicious treats.
From an organiser’s point of view, holding a High Tea at the Heritage Tea Rooms was about as hassle-free as it gets. Owner Desley Ralph answered all of my questions thoroughly and responded to emails quickly – she made the booking process easy!
On the day, two staff members took care of everything for us. The area was set up when we arrived and the location was perfect. The venue offers a rustic setting with long tables, plenty of food for everyone and we could help ourselves to as many cups of tea as we wanted. There was water on every table and also a fruit punch set up for those wanting something sweeter to drink.
Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly fit anymore food in, our hosts brought out two platter filled with the most delicious scones – Apple & Cinnamon, Fruit, Pumpkin and Caramel scones with generous dollops of fresh cream and sweet jams. YUM!
Each guest received a handmade gift from Townsville Women – a fun bookmark featuring an affirmation or inspiring quote. Towards the end of the event, everyone was asked to turn their bookmark over to find out who was the winner of our ‘Lucky Seat’ prize. (Congratulations Shani!)
All in all, our High Tea event was a really nice afternoon filled with good conversation, uplifting tea blends and delicious food!
If anyone is looking for a venue to host their own High Tea, I would definitely recommend Heritage Tea Rooms.
