If you are a family looking to holiday in Cairns, North Queensland, then you really can’t go past the Cairns Coconut Resort!
Part of the Ingenia Holidays group, Cairn Coconut Resort is also a BIG4 holiday park so you know straight away that this is a family-friendly location that offers something for everyone!
This tropical oasis is located on the main highway on the south side of Cairns, or only 7 minutes drive from the CBD. It’s the perfect place to set up base camp while you explore the surrounding areas such as Kuranda, Cairns beaches, or the Daintree Rainforest. Or you can do as we did on a recent holiday, and take advantage of the many activities within the holiday park.
Whether you’re looking for air-conditioned comfort, towing your own caravan, or looking to kick it old school with a tent, BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut has you covered.
There are 13 different styles of cabins and villas to suit families of all sizes – from the simple 1 bedroom Tropical Cabin through to the 3 bedroom Superior Condo. Campers & Vans can choose from powered slab sites or ensuite sites, or there are powered and unpowered grass camping sites for those pitching tents. All sites have access to the camp kitchen and amenities are never far away.
While we were there, it rained almost every night but because the gardens and lawns are so well cared for, our tent site never turned to mud and there was no discomfort at all – even with the grey weather!
Possible the cleanest BBQ’s we’ve seen in a long time! Everything that could make for a better stay for guests has been thought of.
With the rainy weather making the swimming options a little bit too cold for the little kids, we were keen to keep everyone busy with alternative activities – a popular choice was the peddle cars available for hire. Priced from only $15/hr, there are a selection of peddle cars available – Single, 2 Seater, 4 Seater, and the ‘Crab’ (a 7 seater contraption that is a LOT of fun!).
Water Slides, Pools, and Splash Park
When visiting North Queensland you expect to find a pool at any accommodation – here you will find two large swimming pools PLUS kids wading pools, dual waterslides, heated spas, and a splash park for the kids! If you need to cool off then you will have no problems at all finding water to dip your toes in.
Other Family-Friendly Activities
Most activities require a cash deposit of between $5 – $20. This is to cover the use of things like ping pong ball, pool cues, tennis racquets, golf putters, etc and is returned when you hand the equipment back to reception.
Even more on offer…
There were quite a few things that we didn’t photograph during our stay – usually because we just didn’t think to get our phones out of our pockets. That’s the sign of a great family holiday I’d say!
